Michigan House votes to ban car theft tools

Owning tools designed to break into a car with the intent of stealing it could become a felony in Michigan. That’s under bills that passed the state House of Representatives Wednesday.
The package would apply to devices like auto pro pads, which can be used to program key fobs to start a car engine. A 1966 state law bans motor vehicle master keys except for by mechanics, law enforcement, and locksmiths.

MI appeals court rejects challenge to concealed gun law

The Michigan Court of Appeals has rejected a constitutional challenge to the state’s concealed weapons law. The opinion was made public Friday.

A defendant was charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit as a passenger in a vehicle. Her lawyer argued that Michigan’s concealed weapons law is not consistent with the nation’s historical traditions of gun regulation at the time the Bill of Rights was adopted.

Here are the new rules for when airlines should offer refunds in the US

April 25, 2024

The Biden administration issued final rules Wednesday to require airlines to automatically issue cash refunds for things like delayed flights and to better disclose fees for baggage or canceling a reservation.

The Transportation Department said airlines will be required to provide automatic cash refunds within a few days for canceled flights and “significant” delays.

The newly formed Alternative Dispute Resolution Program Management Office, an arm of the IRS Independent Office of Appeals, will work with the agency’s business operating divisions—Wage & Investment, Large Business & International, Small Business/Self-Employed, and Tax Exempt and Government Entities—to help taxpayers resolve tax disputes earlier and more efficiently, the IRS said on April 24.
