Bank sues OpenAI over murder-suicide tied to ChatGPT conversations

In its capacity as executor to a deceased woman, a bank filed suit against the maker of ChatGPT on Thursday, saying the artificial intelligence was responsible for inducing a mentally unstable son to kill his elderly mother and then die by suicide.

Lawyer, law firm sanctioned for citing fake case in lead poisoning lawsuit

A lawyer and a law firm that represented the Chicago Housing Authority must pay nearly $60,000 for filing a court document that included a fake citation.

On Friday, Cook County Circuit Judge Thomas Cushing sanctioned lawyer Larry Mason and his firm Goldberg Segalla for improperly using artificial intelligence and making false representations to the court.

Michigan's 24% cannabis tax can remain in place, judge rules

A Michigan judge has ruled a massive new tax on wholesale cannabis purchases can stand for now after the industry challenged the law.

A decision came Monday, weeks after the Michigan Cannabis Industry Association filed a suit against the 24% tax, which was part of the state's new budget it passed in November.

Michigan's minimum wage will go up in 2026

Michigan's minimum wage will increase once again 2026, according to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

According to the state, the minimum hourly wage will increase from $12.48 to $13.73 per hour.

Starting in October 2028 and every October after, the state treasurer will calculate an adjusted minimum wage, increasing it by the rate of inflation. That adjusted minimum wage rate will be published by Nov. 1 and will be effective starting Feb. 21 of the following year.
